We are looking for an experienced teacher with a degree or equivalent education in Early Childhood Education to work with our 1 to 2 year old children and families. Our goal is to create the highest quality program on the eastside that goes beyond licensing and NAEYC requirements. We feel that teachers do amazing work and we honor them for it. The Lead Dewdrop Teacher will work Monday to Friday from 8:45 to 4:45 for 7 hours with a paid 30 minute lunch and a 30 minute planning time each day. Below you will find a list of benefits and the job description. We would like our new teacher to start part time to transition into the class the then take over the class full time.
Requirements:
* TB Test
* First aid, CPR, and Blood Borne Pathogen Training.
* Food Handlers Card.
* STARS basic training, and continued education clock hours with a commitment to professional development.
* Strong, clear communication skills. Able to communicate needs and wants with other adults and set limits when needed.
* Understanding of children's ages and stages of development, potty training and problem solving.

INTRO
The Lead Teacher is responsible for the care and education of a group of children as part of a teaching team, and functions as a team leader, or co-leader. The teacher plans and implements the curriculum, and with active participation of other members of the teaching team, works with parents and assesses the needs of individual children.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have thorough knowledge of and be able to implement a developmental constructivist approach. Must be at least 18 years of age, a high school graduate/GED, and have an Associate or Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education. Be professionally prepared to be a teacher of young children. In addition, he/she must be able to meet the requirements of the city and state licensing agencies. Willing to further your education in Early Childhood Education and meet state requirements for STARS.
ACCOUNTABILITY
The Lead Teacher reports to the Director of The Shyne School. The owner gives input and directives as needed.
GENERAL WORK HABITS
Teachers are expected to be reliable in their attendance and arrive on time, be dressed appropriately/professionally dressed and ready for work. Know and follow the center’s philosophy. Open to new ideas, be flexible with assignments and schedule, look for ways to improve the program, remain calm and maintain a professional demeanor at all times and come to work with a positive attitude. Always presenting the highest level of care, keeping in mind that parents see us with their children for a few minutes of the day and assume what they see in those few minutes is what happens all day.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to the following:
• Establish and maintain an environment for children that are clean, safe, stimulating and are appropriate for each child’s and the group’s developmental level.
•Be responsible for the appearance, décor, and learning environment of the classroom and outside play area.
• Assume an equal share of the joint housekeeping responsibilities of the school.
• Design appropriate room arrangement to support the goals of the classroom.
• Promote healthy eating practices through modeling.
To advance motor and intellectual competence
• Supporting emerging literacy and language development in response to each individual child’s interest through whole language experience.
• Design and implement a curriculum that fosters the development of the whole child (social/emotional, cognitive, creative and physical) through hands-on activities.
• Use equipment and material for indoor and outdoor play that promotes children’s fine and gross motor development.
To support social and emotional development and provide positive guidance
• Gear the program to the needs of the individual child and their learning pace.
• Treat each child, co-worker, and parent with dignity and respect.
• Help each child to become aware off his/her role as an integral member of a group.
• Plan and implement a curriculum that reflects the culture diversity of the group.
• Provide an environment that promotes development of emotional intelligence.
To establish positive and productive relationships with families
• View parent-teacher relationship as a partnership, focusing on each child’s individual strengths and abilities.
• Plan and implement hands-on activities that develop self-esteem.
• Use and promote positive guidance techniques and a variety of creative and expressive activities.
• Responsible for coordinating with the Associate and Assistant Teacher.
• Gather information from team members for feedback to families.
• Address any parent concern in a timely and appropriate manner. Communicate any issues with the Director if necessary or if Director’s support is needed.
To ensure a well-run purposeful program responsive to participant needs
• Plan, supervise, and implement the curriculum in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the program.
• Access support services and resources relating to the individual needs of the families and children as required.
• Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly written plans that reflect the individual interest and abilities of the children.
• Observe and document individual and group progress through anecdotal notes, development checklist, portfolio assessments and other designated screenings.
• Complete documentation within agency guidelines and time limits.
• Complete paperwork required for local, state, and federal agencies.
• Supervise Associate and Assistant Teachers, and volunteers in the classroom.
• Assist the director in evaluating classroom staff.
• Facilitate weekly staff meetings to address children development and needed adaptations to the environment.
To maintain a commitment to professionalism
• Attend all staff meetings and in-services trainings. Meet STARS requirements by attending recommended training programs, conferences, courses, and other aspects of professional growth.
• Facilitate parent’s conferences.
• Maintaining professional organizations that work for the improvement of early childhood education.
• Maintain flexibility and consistency with all staff.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding staff, families, and children at all times.
• Relate to families in a positive and respectful manner.
